A flexible path forward

As a working professional, online education often is your most flexible path to advancing your career and broadening your knowledge. Through Online & Distance Education, the College of Education partners to provide the faculty expertise you need in an easily accessible setting.

And we do so with quality programming, with our master's in education programs recognized among the best in online programs by U.S. News & World Report for 2021.

2+2 & Purple Pathway to Elementary Ed

Whether you're wanting to build toward your bachelor's degree, or you have a bachelor's and want to transition to elementary education, our 2+2 program can help you achieve those dreams. The program has supported hundreds of place-bound students for more than 25 years at the Carroll, Ankeny and Boone campuses of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Students from community colleges across Iowa can now access the program as well. And, in August 2022, the first cohort of the new Purple Pathway for Paraeducators became another flexible, streamlined, online option.
