John Robbins

John Robbins graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree (1976) in physical education, thereafter teaching and coaching at CAL Community School District (1976-1981) while earning a Master of Education degree (1981) from UNI. He then served as a secondary school principal at CAL (1981-1989) and a high school principal at Iowa Falls Community School District (1989-1999).
Robbins earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree (1995) in school administration from Iowa State University; later accepting the position of superintendent (1999-2019) with the Iowa Falls Community School District and with the Alden Community School District (2004-2019).
He was an active lead accreditation evaluator for Cognia, AdancED (founding board member, Accreditation Commission, chairman, Iowa Excellence in Education Award) and the North Central Association (National Board of Trustees, state chairman).
Robbins was a guest lecturer at the School Business Management Academy, UNI and ISU. He also was honored by the U.S. Department of Education with White House Ceremonies for the Excellence in Education Award and American Education, Making It Work recognition.
He was honored by the School Administrators of Iowa as a finalist for Iowa High School Principal of the Year and twice as a finalist for Iowa Superintendent of the Year.
Robbins was appointed by the governor to serve on the Iowa State Board of Education (president), and appointed to serve on the Iowa Community College Council.
John Robbins has served his profession of educational administration with great distinction.
