Benjamin T. Pirillo graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education (2001) amd thereafter taught elementary physical education for the Plano (Texas) Independent School District.

He was selected as the Hughston Elementary Teacher of the Year (2007-2008) and was awarded the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Elementary Teacher of the Year (2015).

He has also been recognized as the Southern District Society of Health and Physical Educators of America Elementary Teacher of the Year (2016).

Pirillo has been an innovator in the use of social media platforms to promote physical education in our public schools while sharing his expertise with future physical educators by serving as a cooperating teacher for student interns for the Plano School District.

Pirillo has presented at numerous state, regional and national AAHPERD conventions and conferences, and co-authored curricular material that is utilized by PK-12 practitioners. 

Benjamin T. Pirillo has served the profession of physical education with great distinction.
