Dr. Jianyu E. Wang received a Bachelor of Education degree (1982) from Wuhan Institute of Physical Education and a Master of Education degree (1989) from Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education (GIPE). Dr. Wang earned a Masters of Arts degree (2000) from the University of Northern Iowa and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (2003) from the University of South Carolina. Jianyu is a productive scholar, authoring four chapters in professional texts and 28 peer refereed Articles and sharing his expertise at 33 regional, national/international conferences and nine regional or invited papers.

Jianyu has received two Excellence in Teaching Awards, GIPE, the Faculty Honors Award in Research and Scholarship, CSU-B (2008) and the Most Valuable Professor Award, CSU-B Athletic Department (2011). He serves his profession as a reviewer of submitted abstracts presentations in Sport Pedagogy for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (2012),  the 2008 Beijing Olympic Scientific Conference, and for the American Educational Research Association (2005). He has received an Excellence in Teaching award from the Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education (1993, 1995) and an Outstanding Teacher Award from Guangdong Higher Education Department (1993). Wang is presently a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University- Bakersfield where his primary focus is on Physical Education Teacher Education.
