Faculty & Staff

Leaders by example

Leading by example. That’s ever-so-true of the Health, Recreation & Community Services faculty. Volunteering at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank while engaging their students. Advancing knowledge through scholarly research and hands-on applications. In the field during an unprecedented global pandemic. Connecting with peers locally, nationally and internationally.

The variety within our undergraduate and graduate programs reflects the expertise of our HRCS faculty. Here's a sampling of their varied interests and specialty areas:

  • The economic impact of tourism
  • International, minority and immigrant health
  • Youth concussion testing
  • Playground safety
  • Service learning and leadership
  • Cross-cultural therapeutic recreation
  • Evidence-based practice

Whatever your major, you'll find faculty within HRCS who are flexible, welcoming and ready to support and share in your journey.

Transforming clinical education

Respect. That’s something Tricia Schrage brings to every class she coordinates in the only human cadaver lab at UNI. She carefully introduces athletic training and rehabilitation studies students to the human body while appreciating the donor who has helped elevate this part of clinical education.
