About the Department

The Department of Learning, Leadership and Community (LLC) brings together diverse disciplines dedicated to education, service, and leadership. 

One undergraduate degree. Four minors. Six master’s programs. Eleven certificates. More than 20 faculty who include former superintendents, instructional designers, recreation professionals, community leaders and even licensed school psychologists. This eclectic mix of expertise works together to prepare students to lead in classrooms, schools, nonprofit and for-profit organizations and communities.

Theophile Muhayimana, EdD, serves as department head and associate professor, with an emphasis on educational leadership and the EdD program. A 2015 graduate of UNI's EdD program, he joined UNI in 2019 and previously served in several roles in higher education in Rwanda prior to emigrating to the United States.
