How did you decide on your path of study?
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I had a few teachers that made a huge impact on my life, but I have also always had a passion for helping others.

Why did you choose to pursue this degree at UNI?
I loved that UNI was not a huge school but also not a super small college. It was just the right size for me as a transfer student! I really enjoyed the class sizes.

What challenges have you faced as you've worked toward this degree – and how have you overcome them?
Working two jobs while being a full-time student and being able to keep up financially with bills to make a living and pay for my education. It was a lot, but I just kept thinking about my long-term goals, reminding myself that my current jobs are temporary, and never gave up! I pushed through and just did it, and here I am, finally. I did it!

What’s been your favorite memory at UNI?
My level 3 field experience in Houston, Texas!

How has UNI helped you achieve your goals?
UNI threw me right into the field of teaching. I got hands-on teaching experience every single semester. Because of this, it helped me realize how close I was to actually becoming a teacher. It kept college interesting and exciting. I also had some AMAZING professors while attending UNI who showed they truly cared and were always willing to help.

How has your experience at UNI shaped you?
I feel like UNI has shaped me into a successful educator. Through all of the experiences I was able to have and all that my professors taught me, I feel so confident as a teacher. It is such a good feeling.

What advice would you give to students considering UNI?
You will not regret it. Everyone at UNI is always willing to help out in any way they can! It feels like one big family!

Do you already know your next steps?
I plan to find a teaching position and continue to build my knowledge by adding endorsements throughout the next couple of years.
