Dr. Sunuh Chung research focuses on children's literacy learning through reading children's literature. With the experience in teaching adolescents in South Korea, she is also interested in English language learners' reading children's literature, especially informational picture books and biography, to enhance their language and disciplinary knowledge. Through her research, she seeks to make children's literature more equitable and inclusive and to create learning spaces to develop disciplinary knowledge and literacy. Dr. Chung is currently running the UNI America Reads Book Club, an after-school program for 4th graders. She also is the director and founder of the Science of Reading Lab, a maker-space for all pre-service teachers. She is currently serving as the chair of the ILA Children’s & Young Adult Book Awards Committee.
