Why did you choose the graduate program you did -- and why at UNI?
I chose school psychology because I have a passion for working with kids who have disabilities. It is truly amazing to see the students grow and learn. I also chose school psychology because there are so many different roles I get to serve. UNI was my school of choice because it felt like home and a well supported community.
How did your preparation at UNI prepare you for your current role?
Going into my internship year I felt well prepared and, more importantly, supported. The abundance of practicum experience mixed with learning in the classroom grew my skills to make me a well-rounded school psychologist.
How would you describe the UNI culture/community?
I loved my time at UNI. I was well supported by the professors, not only academically, but personally. Both my professors and cohort were a great support system to help me through graduate school.
What would you tell someone who is considering attending UNI?
I would tell someone to take the leap, apply and visit! I fell in love with the program before I even started. It never hurts to find out more about a program.
Anything else about your graduate experience at UNI?
The school psychology program challenged me and left me well prepared for the workforce. I never felt alone. I was always well supported and the professors helped make adjustments for me as life happened. It was the best leap of faith I have ever taken.
Where are you working (or furthering your education) now?
I work for Central Rivers Area Education Agency.
