What attracted you to UNI?
My husband and I wanted to move closer to family and UNI is well known for its record of effectively preparing teachers for today's dynamic and diverse classrooms.
Describe an experience that reinforces why you enjoy what you do.
Every summer, it is incredibly rewarding to hear from recent graduates as they begin their teaching careers. Their excitement and dedication reminds me why what I do makes a difference.
What drove your interest in your selected discipline?
After two decades in a classroom, I wanted to share my experiences with the next generation of teachers.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe learning should be collaborative and hands-on, where the role of the teacher is to design learning experiences that support and meet the diverse needs of all students.
What do you hope your students learn from you?
I hope my students learn how to teach effectively while recognizing and embracing their own unique strengths, perspectives and teaching styles. I also hope they develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary not only to secure a teaching position, but to thrive and build a fulfilling, lasting career in the classroom.
