Barbara began her career as a classroom teacher, was an AEA early childhood consultant, an adjunct instructor at University of Northern Iowa, and is now an academic advisor at UNI. As a lifelong resident of Cedar Falls and a UNI alum, it was a natural choice to come to UNI which is known for its excellent programming for pre-service teachers. She seeks to share her knowledge with students while serving their needs and helps them achieve their goals and dreams by being an advocate for them. Fun facts: she is an avid biker and loves to ride on the trails in the Cedar Valley. She also has two Scottish terriers, Cody and Cooper. In her free time, she loves to cook and experiment with home decor.

Barbara has received numerous awards during her time at UNI. She received Panther First Awards, State Early Childhood Curriculum Editor and Apple Polisher Awards. She was also a presenter for multiple AEA/UNI events and has had 24 years of experience in the education field.
