America Reads

America Reads facilitates a partnership between the University of Northern Iowa and local public schools to strengthen literacy skills and an enjoyment of reading in children.

This service-learning experience:

• helps UNI students develop their teaching and leadership skills as they select, plan, and implement fun, interactive, engaging lessons -- while contributing to the greater social good!
• benefits local school children as they engage in shared reading, guided reading, and a variety of creative literacy experiences in a book club.

Through their mentoring of local students, our UNI students promote literacy in the community.
