Dr. Stacy Van Gorp

Stacy is proud to be a life-long Iowan. She came to UNI 20 years ago as a student and has made her home in the Cedar Valley ever since. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UNI, and her Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. Professionally, she has held positions with the United Way, UNI and Opportunity Works - a project of the Community Foundation aimed at reducing poverty. Today, she is the executive director of the R.J. McElroy Trust, a private foundation created by Ralph McElroy, founder of KWWL-TV. The goal of the McElroy Trust is to inspire and transform young people in northeast Iowa. As an active volunteer, Stacy received the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism in 2006. Stacy loves to travel, cook and read, but as the mother of 7-year-old twins her hobbies are laundry, driving to soccer and laundry.
