Future teachers will have two special opportunities to learn more about the Teacher Education Program at University of Northern Iowa with new visit days planned for mid-October.
Be a Teacher Day at UNI
The first-ever Be a Teacher Day at UNI is planned for Friday, October 11. The day gives students a chance to learn more about the programs at UNI that prepare students to teach at all levels: early childhood, elementary, middle and high school. Faculty, staff and students from all four collaborating colleges for teacher preparation will be on hand to answer questions.
The day begins in the Great Hall at Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center with a welcome and panel of students and alumni teachers and administrators. Small group breakouts based on major (for example, elementary education or science education) will allow students to focus on their area of interest in teaching. The day includes lunch, and all students attending will receive a free T-shirt. Learn more here.
Transfer! Teach! Transform!
A second event is exclusively for transfer students interested in early childhood and elementary education. It will be held Thursday, October 10, at Schindler Education Center. Prospective students -- whether transferring from community colleges or four-year colleges -- can get their questions answered about the transfer process while learning more about the early childhood and elementary education programs at UNI. In addition to student panels, the visiting students will have a chance to interact with current transfer students at a reception as the visit concludes. Learn more here.
