Dr. Dwight C. Watson named as new dean of the College of Education
Dwight C. Watson Biography
Dwight C. Watson was named dean of the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa effective July 1, 2010. Watson was formerly the associate dean of the Teacher Education Program, chair of the Department of Education Studies and professor in the College of Education and Human Services, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Previously, he was chair of the Departments of Curriculum and Instruction and Foundations of Education at UW-Eau Claire.
He also served as interim director of the Center for Excellence in Urban Education at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minn.
Watson has extensive background working with children in literacy and language arts, Title I and Reading Recovery programs.
He earned his Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from North Carolina State University. He holds an M.A. and B.A. in elementary education from the University of South Carolina.
Watson's current research interests are curriculum integration, children's literature and conflict resolution.
