Facilities and Locations

The Schindler Education Center (SEC) is on the north side of campus and is building number 18 on the campus map which provides directions within the campus. Our health and human services students spend much of their time at the Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC) and Human Performance Complex (HPC) on the northwest corner of campus, which are just north of the UNI Dome on the map.

Schindler Education Center (SEC)
The Schindler Education Center (SEC) became the home of the College of Education soon after UNI became a liberal arts university. The building was fully renovated and rededicated in 2017. Most COE education-related programs and courses are housed here. SEC features state-of-the-art multimedia classrooms and lecture halls, as well as the HNI Corporation Instructional Resources and Technology Services and its own on-site Schindigs cafe. It also houses the Scottish RiteCare Early Language Program, which is a program of the Communication Sciences and Disorders department.
Human Performance Complex
The two-story, 33,000 square feet Human Performance Center represents a unique public/private partnership between UNI and the Cedar Valley medical community. Designed to support the academic and public service programs of UNI's Department of Kinesiology and Department of Health, Recreation and Community Services, the center includes classrooms, offices and sports medicine/medical office space as well as laboratories including human anatomy, environmental health, athletic training, biomechanics, exercise physiology and psychomotor behavior.
Nielsen Field House
The Nielsen Field House includes a gymnasium, offices, and the Child Development Center.
Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC)
The Wellness and Recreation Center houses the COE's Department of Health, Recreation and Community Services (HRCS) and Department of Kinesiology as well as Wellness and Recreation Services. In addition to a world-class recreational facility, the WRC features classrooms, faculty offices, and research labs.
