Just for Kicks

The Division of Leisure, Youth and Human Services formed Just for Kicks for youth soccer players, coaches and parents in 2001. The purpose of Just for Kicks is to:

  • Provide and help coordinate (and disseminate information) coaching education programs for NE Iowa high school and competitive coaches.
  •  Hold an annual conference on high school and competitive soccer.
  • Provide information and opportunities for players, parents and coaches to find and participate in soccer tournaments, games, and training.



Aldin Muhamedagic

Director of Coaching

Coach Aldin was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina where he played semi-professional soccer before coming to United States. While playing in Europe, Aldin also took on the role of coach to U10-U13 boys teams with plenty of success as a young coach. Throughout his playing career, Aldin was exposed to different coaching styles that helped him become an outstanding soccer player and coach as well as a respected individual in the community. After he moved to the United States in 1997, he joined the Iowa Soccer League where he took on the role of a Coordinator of the Iowa Soccer League. He guided and helped the league to form teams and establish its competitive level of soccer. As a player and a young coach, Aldin played a crucial role in establishing the club soccer team Krajisnika in Waterloo, along with the other members of the Bosnian-Croatian Association. Aldin played for three seasons at the University of Northern Iowa where he was a top scorer for two seasons in a row.

In his experience as a coach, he has coached soccer levels U9-U19, high school, club soccer and assisted at the college level. For the last two years Aldin has been serving as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa Women’s Soccer program. In his third seasons as a head soccer coach at Waverly-Shell Rock Senior High School, Aldin guided the team to three consecutive state tournaments taking the 3rd place for two years in a row. Aldin’s team broke 6 school records in 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 season, and he is the most winningest coach in Waverly-Shell Rock High School soccer history. Aldin is actively involved with Cedar Valley Soccer Club where in his first season he guided the U13B team to unbeaten record in the league competition. Also, for the last 6 years Aldin has been serving as a Director of Just for Kicks Program at the University of Northern Iowa offering indoor futsal league, youth clinics and lessons. After receiving a B.S. in Business Administration he has gone on to receive a M.S. in Physical Education and his Doctoral Degree (Ed.D) in the Department of Leisure Youth and Human Services at UNI. Coach Aldin has taught Personal Wellness classes, Field of Sports and Advanced Soccer Theory, and has been a true inspiration to his students, fellow faculty members and community.

Coach Aldin has been called a player's coach by his teammates and players. He relates to each player and treats them with respect. He is interested in developing the whole person which includes; skills relevant for winning soccer matches, a competitive spirit and most importantly good sportsmanship/citizenship. He is the type of coach that cares, believes and motivates the players to do well. His overall mission is not only to provide good quality coaching but also to educate players and lead by example.

Coach Aldin has been married to Sejla and they have two children, Adijan and Selena.

Coach Aldin is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and World Class Coaching Organization
