Position Title: Graduate Assistant: COE Dean’s Office

Terms of Employment:

For the fall semester: 20 hours per week, beginning August 26, 2019 and ending December 20, 2019. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break.
For the spring semester: 20 hours per week, beginning January 13, 2020 and ending May 8, 2020. Does not include the week of Spring Break.
This is a one-year position with possibility for a one-year renewal.


Full assistantship salary for 2019-2020 is $5,284 per semester. Half assistantships may be awarded.   
Salary will be prorated on a weekly basis for a late start
Graduate Assistants may qualify for in-state tuition and fees.
Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving Break, Spring Break, or the interims between semesters.

Background Information:

The College of Education Dean’s Office is the administrative center for the College of Education.  It houses the Dean and Associate Deans of the College. 

Position Description:

Provides support to the Associate Dean(s) within the Dean’s Office, by the following:

Support the development, sustainability, and assessment of COE pipeline initiatives;
Support COE scholarship awarding process;
Update and revise COE website on a regular basis;
Manage document repository and annual revision of articulation agreements;
Collaborate with faculty and staff on research projects;
Provide support for daily operations of the Dean’s office;
Assist with student success projects; may include some evenings and/or weekends;
Attend and participate in meetings and trainings, as needed;
Compete tasks and other duties as assigned that support the work of the Associate Deans.


Candidate must

Be a full-time degree-seeking student in the Postsecondary Education/Student Affairs graduate program;
Be enrolled in 9 hours of graduate credit each semester of the assistantship;
Maintain a UNI cumulative graduate GPA of at least 3.00. 
Have at least a 3.0 GPA for undergraduate or previous graduate work of at least 8 graded credit hours (for newly admitted graduate students).
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
Be able to work independently
Possess strong organizational skills
Be familiar with Google Suite, including Drive, proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher
Have some Experience with website development, but not required.
